School Based Services

ICL and its affiliate, ICL Guidance Center of Brooklyn, provide school-based mental health services at Brooklyn primary and intermediate schools. Staffed by social workers, psychiatrists, arts therapists and family advocates, these programs offer clinical, psychoeducational, medication management, crisis intervention and art therapy services to students and their parents. They also provide supportive and psychoeducational services to the instructional staff. The programs utilize evidence-based, best practice interventions and assessments. Group activities are offered to address challenging student transitions, with a focus on kindergarten (transitioning to primary school) and fifth grade classes (transitioning to middle school). Services and hours of operation vary at the participating schools.

FACT:  ICL family programs have enabled over 100 parents to retain or regain custody of their children from foster care. Preserving and strengthening families is a bedrock goal of ICL and its network of services.
