Vassalotti Associates Sponsors First 2012 Corporate Runner
|
“This is a win-win. We’re helping TEAM ICL while supporting a runner who wasn’t able to procure a spot through the marathon lottery,” explains Jimmie Vassalotti, President, Vassalotti Associates, LLP, one of the leading architecture firms in the not-for-profit healthcare spectrum.
While the company has supported TEAM ICL for the past two years, this marks the first time that Vassalotti will be supporting an individual runner. Jimmie elaborates, “We had hoped for one of TEAM ICL’s slots last year, but the team filled up too quickly. We’re proud and excited to give an opportunity this year to Kevin Gray, Director, Building Services, Developmental Disabilities Institute.”
In 2011, TEAM ICL included a young runner, Tyric Cuff. His is a story of grit and an ongoing determination to overcome the many obstacles that have been hurdled in his way. As a young man who never ran more than five miles (even while training), and who in the space of a few years successfully transitioned from six different foster care residences into ICL adult supportive housing by the time he was 21 and is now living in his own apartment, Tyric has certainly already achieved much in his 24 years. Not only did Tyric successfully complete the marathon, he, like his peer TEAM ICL runners, met a fundraising goal of $2,500. These achievements were not reached solely through his own efforts: Tyric trained with his mentor, an ICL employee who also ran on TEAM ICL; and the funds were raised primarily through donations made by corporations and individuals who wanted to acknowledge and support his perseverance.
This year, TEAM ICL will once again feature a runner who receives ICL services. Please consider supporting this runner.
